Coach Smith has over 20 years of coaching experience including 16 as a head coach at the high school varsity level. In his past 8 seasons as the head coach of the University Heights Academy Blazers, Coach Smith led the program to 5 district finals appearances, 5 regional tournament appearances and 6 All A regional finals. This tenure included a Regional Championship (2011), an Elite 8 appearance in the KHSAA State Tournament (2011), a District Championship (2013), 4 All A Regional Titles (2011, 2012, 2013, 2018) and two All A State Tournament Sectional Titles (2011 and 2013). Coach Smith has a USSF D license, an NSCAA certification and is a writer/analyst for World Class Coaching – the world’s number one online soccer coaching resource.
Coach Smith stated, “I am very happy; not just to be a Todd County Rebel but to be a part of the Todd County community. From the moment I set foot on campus everyone has made me feel very welcome and I am excited for this opportunity right now, and for many years to come. Todd County has a bunch of players who love soccer and want to work hard to improve and those are the key building blocks for creating a consistently successful program. I have been blessed with the opportunity to contribute to the lives of others through the game of soccer for most of my life and I am very thankful and humbled I get to continue this work at Todd County Central High School, a place I could tell right away I’m going to be happy to call ‘home’. I can’t wait to get started!”
