Superintendent Mark Thomas announced Wendy M. Duvall, EdD has been named Assistant Superintendent for the Todd County School District. Dr. Duvall has 26 years of educational experience in both Tennessee and Kentucky, with the last fourteen of those years at the helm of Hopkinsville Middle School as principal.
Dr. Duvall will supervise and review the evaluation and performance of the district’s personnel department, ensuring that staff hired work to provide outstanding levels of services to all schools. Duvall will also administer the Board of Education’s Site-Based Decision-Making policies and procedures at Todd County School District, as they pertain to personnel and student services, and will work with principals and other administrators to monitor staffing needs, develop staffing plans, and support classified and certified staff in the district.
Superintendent Thomas shared support for Dr. Duvall, stating, “I am very excited to announce that Dr. Wendy Duvall will be joining the Todd County School District as our Assistant Superintendent! We had several very qualified applicants for this position. Dr. Duvall has an outstanding educational record for developing high achieving schools, she has been a national presenter, and Dr. Duvall has a myriad of other experiences which will benefit our school district.”
Through her educational career, Dr. Duvall has been an elementary, middle, and high school teacher in the areas of mathematics and science. She has also served as a Curriculum Specialist at the high school level. Dr. Duvall has a Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay State University, a Master of Education degree from Trevecca Nazarene University, a Specialist in Education from Murray State University, and Doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Duvall has been involved in many professional memberships, including Kentucky Association of School Administrators, Kentucky Education Association, and she has previously sat on the Kentucky Regional Foster Care Review Board.
Dr. Duvall believes student growth is the most important aspect of learning. All students can learn and grow in different ways, and at different rates. She believes with hard work, dedication, and perseverance all students can grow into educated young adults. Visibility, teamwork, and continuously encouraging students to push themselves academically, helps create school cultures where students can grow and reach their full potential.
Dr. Duvall states that the best part of her job is working with and mentoring students. “I constantly model what is best for children. Staying positive, maintaining communication with parents, faculty, students, and the community helps parents feel proud to send their students to Kentucky public schools.”
Dr. Duvall looks forward to continuing her educational career as the next Assistant Superintendent at the Todd County School District.
